Phone.com eventually changed their name to OpenWave. They kept me on to do an entirely new task (for me) of designing Admin consoles for major phone networks (think Verizon, T-mobile) to manage their customers’ mobile devices. I also designed a portal for consumers.
I teamed up with a marketing guy. He brainstormed the product, while I prototyped his ideas in clickable demos and built functional specs. My focus was usability—navigation, user interface, and UI text.
About the demos: Navigate the prototypes below to see design, text, UI, and sample data for each screen. You can also click links to switch between the UI and a detailed spec for implementing that screen.
Here’s an Admin console for remotely administering OS, firmware, application, and device driver upgrades for various brands of mobile devices.
Here’s an early web-based user portal where subscribers could log in to manage their own phone account.
